WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary Cross Country announced a six-race slate for both the men and women in 2022 on Wednesday.
The Tribe will open the season Sep. 2, on the road in Concord, N.C. at the Charlotte Opener. Two weeks later, W&M is back in action on Friday, Sept. 16, in Newport News Va., at the CNU XC Regional Preview.
The Green and Gold opens the month of October as it heads to the Paul Short Run at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa., on Friday, Oct. 1. The Tribe takes part in the event for the fourth time since 2012. The men placed 12th among 40 teams last time in 2021, while the women came in 27th.
W&M closes out the pre-championship season in Charlottesville for the second year in a row at the Virginia XC23 Invitational on Friday, Oct. 15. The Tribe men finished fifth of nine teams, while the women placed sixth.
The Colonial Athletic Association Championship race takes place on Friday, Oct. 28. This year, the meet will be hosted by Delaware at the White Clay Creek State Park in Newark. The Tribe men enter this season as conference champs, after winning their 28th championship title.
The Southeast Region Championships are set for Friday, Nov. 11, in Lexington, Ky. The top two teams for both the men and women will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, with another 13 at-large bids up for grabs nationally, based on results from throughout the season. The top four athletes not on a qualifying team will also earn an automatic spot at the national meet, as will two more athletes chosen at-large nationally.
