WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head women's tennis coach Jessica Giuggioli announced the addition of former Northeast Conference Player of the Year and graduate transfer Sofiya Kuzina (Moscow, Russia / School 90 / Long Island) to the Tribe program for the 2022-23 season. Kuzina enjoyed a standout three-year career at Long Island, helping the Sharks a conference championship in 2021.
 
"We're very excited to add Sofiya to our Tribe family," Giuggioli said. "Sofiya has an aggressive game style and her experience competing at the top of the lineup will be very valuable to our team."
 
Kuzina was twice named to the All-NEC First Team in singles during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She garnered first team accolades in doubles in 2022 as well. She helped lead LIU to the NEC Championship in 2021 on her way to earning the conference's player of the year honor. Kuzina was also named the NEC Tournament MVP in 2021.
 
Over her career at LIU, Kuzina posted a 36-12 singles record (.750) and a 35-13 doubles mark (.729).      She was even better at the top of the lineup in dual-match play, going 21-5 (.808) at the No. 1 singles position. In doubles, she was 28-10 (.737) at the No. 1 spot.
 
Along with winning the NEC Championship in 2021, Long Island enjoyed success over Kuzina's career, going 35-11 in dual-match play and 12-2 in conference play.
 
Named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll in 2022, Kuzina earned her undergraduate degree from LIU in international relations and diplomacy. She will enroll in W&M's prestigious Raymond A. Mason School of Business and pursue a master's degree in finance.
