SOUTHPORT, N.C. – William & Mary women's golf senior Sarah Houle sits in the top 10 at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship after the first day at the St. James Planation Reserve Club. 
 
As a team, the Tribe is sixth after firing an opening round 323 (+35). Charleston leads after the first day thanks to a 301 (+13), five shots clear of UNCW and Elon. 
 
Houle is in share of eighth after posting a 4-over 76 on the opening day of competition. Her back-nine led the way as she birdied two of her final four holes to shoot an even par 36. The Tribe senior is three strokes off the lead held by Elon's Annabelle Ackroyd and UNCW's Emma Schimpf, who both fired a 1-over 73. 
 
Junior Cindy Zhou sits in a share of 26th following an 81. She led the Tribe on the opening nine, paring seven of her nine holes to shoot a 2-over 38. 
 
Junior Mikah McDonnell, freshman Emma Lu and Stefanie Guizar Diaz each shot an opening-round 83 to share 31st place. McDonnell led W&M and ranked second in the championship field with a trio of birdies in the opening 18. 
 
The Tribe will be paired with Hofstra for the second round on Saturday. The teams will tee off, starting off hole 1 at 8:30 a.m.
