WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - Fresh off an opening weekend sweep, William & Mary baseball will look to keep the good times rolling as the Tribe heads up the road for a midweek game at Richmond Tuesday afternoon. The Spiders are 2-1 early in the year with wins last weekend over Air Force and Bucknell.
Through three games, the Tribe's offense has been impressive scoring 35 runs last weekend on 13 extra-base hits. Seven William & Mary players have at least three hits on the season, while six have scored at least three runs, and five have four or more RBI.
Jack Cone and
Nate Goranson each had a grand slam in the opening weekend and
Matt Thomas also clobbered a home run.
David Hogarth leads the team with eight hits and six driven in.
On the hill, the Tribe allowed just a .222 batting average against last weekend as 13 different pitchers took the mound. Five men in the staff,
Carter Lovasz,
Jack Cone,
Rojo Prarie,
Matt Howat, and
Casey Green all worked over 1.0 scoreless innings and Prarie earned CAA Pitcher of the Week honors after recording an 11-out save in Saturday's nightcap. As a unit, the staff amassed 30 strikeouts over the three-game stretch.
Last season, the Tribe bested the Spiders two games to one in a modified three-game series. William & Mary won a single game at Plumeri Park and split a pair in Richmond. The game will be available to stream via ESPN+.
