Heilen Earns Rookie of the Month Honor

RICHMOND, VA.- William & Mary swimming's Sophia Heilen has been named the CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Month as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon. This is the second major award garnered by Heilen as she was previously named the CAA Swimmer of the Week earlier this season.

Heilen has been dominant in her first season for the Tribe winning 10 of the 12 individual events in which she has swam. The Haymarket product has swept the two butterfly events in four dual meets, and on October 22 at Towson also took first place in the 200 IM.

Through the opening month of the season, Heilen sports the CAA's fastest time in the 200 fly with a 2:02.68 and the third quickest mark in the 100 fly with a 55.56 time. Her time of 2:08.18 in the 200 IM ranks eighth in the conference. Both the 100 and 200 fly times are less than half a second from a school dual meet record.

Heilen and the Tribe will be back in action next weekend for a three-day meet in Morgantown as William & Mary participates in the West Virginia Invitational November 17-19.
