Alexander Levengood was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team for the third time in his career to highlight the Tribe honorees as the league announced its end of the year awards on Wednesday.
Joining Levengood in earning All-CAA honors were senior
Diba Nwegbo and junior
Cole Knapp who were both named to the third team. It marked the second time in Nwegbo's career he has earned All-CAA honors.
Levengood became the sixth player in W&M history to be named to the All-CAA First Team on three occasions. He is the 20th Tribe player to be a three-time all-league pick and the ninth under head coach
Chris Norris.
The Richmond, Va., native tops the Tribe with 20 points, six goals and eight assists in 2022. He leads the CAA and ranks 12th nationally in assists. His point total is third in the league and 34th in the country. Four of his six goals this season came in CAA play, including both of his game-winning goals. The senior midfielder scored the game-winner in the 88th minute to lift the Tribe past Monmouth and clinch a spot in this week's CAA Tournament.
Levengood leads the country in shot accuracy at 67.6%, putting 25 of his 37 shots on goal. His 1.47 shots on goal per game rank 27th in the country.
Nwegbo, who was an All-CAA Second Team choice last season, ranks second on the team in points (13), goals (3) and assists (7). His assists total ranks second in the CAA and 27th nationally. Four of his seven assists have come in league action.
Nwegbo posted a pair of multi-assist games, accomplishing the feat at Stony Brook and versus George Mason. He tallied a pair of goals in the Tribe's 2-2 draw with George Washington to open the season on his way to earning CAA Player of the Week honors.
Knapp, who earned his first CAA honor, was the only Tribe player to start all 17 matches in 2022. In anchoring the Tribe defense, he led the team with 1,496 minutes from the center back position. Defensively, W&M ranked third in CAA games with three shutout and fifth with a goals against average of 1.33. Over the last 14 matches, the Tribe defense owns a GAA of 1.07.
The Tribe returns to the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2019. W&M travels to Wilmington, N.C., to take on No. 3 seed and defending league champion Hofstra on Thursday at 6 p.m. The winner of the Tribe and Pride advances to the semifinals against No. 2 seed UNCW on Sunday at 2 p.m. The CAA Championship match is set for Saturday, Nov. 12, at the best remaining seed. Every match of the tournament will be streamed on FloFC.
Tickets for each match at UNCW this weekend are $10 for adults and $5 for youth (15 and under). Gates open an hour prior to kickoff and clear bag policy applies.
