WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - Fresh off a bye week, William & Mary volleyball is back in Kaplan Arena this weekend for a pair of matches against Hampton. The Tribe and Pirates will face off at 2:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
The matches against Hampton will mark the first action between the in-state rivals as conference foes. The Tribe has a 10-2 all-time record against Hampton with eight wins coming in Williamsburg.
Senior libero
Anna Porter reached the 1,000 career dig mark in the Tribe's October 9 win over North Carolina A&T and will be honored prior to Saturday's match. Porter became just the tenth player in school history to accomplish the feat, and the fifth under the current scoring format.
Porter has commanded the Tribe's defense and ranks second in the CAA and 44th nationally averaging 4.60 digs per set. As a team, William & Mary is second in the league averaging 15.08 digs per set, and Porter has recorded at least 20 digs in five matches this season.
Ryann Love has been a factor at the net, ranking third in the CAA and among the tops in the NCAA with 1.16 blocks per set.
Eleanor Stothoff ranks fifth in the league with 3.15 kills per frame and
Sabrina Malcolm is fifth in the conference with a .320 hitting percentage.
Home court advantage has been kind to the Green and Gold as
Tim Doyle's club enters the weekend with a 4-2 mark at Kaplan Arena. The Tribe has won three matches at home in three sets and has won 16 of 24 sets played at home this year.
The Tribe has added three more sweeps on the road for a total of six three-set wins on the year, the most since the 2009 season in which William & Mary recorded seven three-set wins.
