WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's golf wraps up the 2022 fall season by competing in the 52nd annual Furman Intercollegiate, Oct. 22-23. The 54-hole event is being played for the first time during the fall this year.
The Tournament
The Furman Intercollegiate will be played at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C. The course will play par 71 and 7,005 yards. Saturday will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. with 36 holes of action. The final 18 holes will be played Sunday starting at 8:20 a.m. off holes 1 and 10. The Tribe will join the host Paladins, Campbell, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, High Point, James Madison, Richmond, Samford, USC Aiken, Virginia Tech and Western Carolina in the 15-team field. Tribe News and Notes
- The last time out, the Tribe posted three rounds of par or better and fired the sixth-best 54-hole total in school history on the way to finishing fourth in a 17-team field at the Elon Phoenix Invitational. After opening the tournament with an even-par 284, the Tribe recorded back-to-back rounds of 3-under 281 in the second and third rounds. W&M's 6-under 846 was its second 54-hole score under par this season.
- Sophomore
Logan Hunter posted his second career top-10, finishing ninth with a 5-under 208, which is the 12th-best 54-hole total in school history, at Elon. He shot a 4-under 67 in round two and nine of his 12 rounds this fall have been par or better. He shot the sixth-best score in school history with a 7-under 209 to open the season at teh VCU Shootout.
- Freshman
Charlie Bundy finished under par for the second-straight tourney at Elon with a 2-under 211. He has shot par or better in five of his last six rounds. Bundy was the runner-up at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic on Oct. 9 behind a 3-under 213. It was the second-best freshman score in school history. He shot a 4-under 68 during the final round, which was the second-best 18-hole score for a Tribe freshman. He was named the CAA Golfer of the Week after his performance.
- As a team, the Tribe earned a runner-up finish at the ECU Ironwood Collegiate Classic. W&M shot the best final-round score at the event, carding a 1-under 287 to jump two spots and earn a runner-up finish. The Tribe's 54-hole team score of 7-over 871 was the 15th-best mark in school history.
- In total, the Tribe set six school records at the VCU Shootout, Sept. 12-13. W&M set marks for 18-hole scoring at 16-under 272 in the second round; 36-hole scoring at 19-under 557 over the first two rounds; and 54-hole scoring at 21-under 843. Individually, Feinstein equaled the school record for 18-hole scoring (7-under 65) and 36-hole scoring (10-under), before topping 54-hole mark at 15-under par.
- Feinstein birdied his final hole to win the VCU Shootout individually. He was the first Tribe player to win a tournament since David Hicks won the Fighting Irish Invitational in 2017. Feinstein was named the CAA Golf of the Week for his efforts.
