Swimming Stumbles in Opening Meet

WILMINGTON, N.C.- William & Mary men's and women's swimming teams lost a season-opening meet at UNCW Sunday morning. The women dropped a 199-95 meet, while the men lost by a 222-52 count. 
 
Tribe senior Annie Tuttle won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events with times of 1:05.97 and 2:23.16 respectively. William & Mary freshman Sophia Heilen swept both butterfly events to earn her first collegiate first place finishes. Heilen finished second to Ellie Scherer in the 200 IM. 
 
For the men, Brock Rempe and Kyle Demers finished second and third respectively in the 100 breaststroke and swapped places with Demers finishing second and Rempe in third in the 200 breaststroke. Conor Sokolowsky took third place in the 200 IM and Owen Miller took the bronze in the 500 free.
 
William & Mary will next be in action October 15 for a home meet with Johns Hopkins in the Bee McLeod Recreation Center.
