WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- William & Mary swimming will be back in the pool this Friday afternoon as both the men's and women's teams will visit Davidson. Both teams will be looking for a similar result against the Wildcats, as the men defeated Davidson 137-124 last season, and the women edged out a 132-130 win. The meet was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but postponed due to weather.
Much is at stake in the final dual meet of the season, as the men (2-2) are looking to secure a 12th-straight non-losing season. On the women's side, the Tribe (5-0) is looking for back-to-back undefeated seasons in dual meet action.
Scouting the Tribe Women: The Tribe won 11 of 14 events in last week's double-dual meet with ECU and Old Dominion.
Elizabeth Intihar won three events, including individual wins in the 1,000 and 500 free before capping the day helping the Tribe's 4x100 free relay team to a first-place finish.
Grace Tramack picked up her first two individual wins of the season, besting all-comers in the 200 fly and 400 IM, while
Katie Stevenson won both the 200 and 100 freestyle events.
Missy Cundiff is undefeated this season in the 50 free, and
Annie Tuttle has finished first in each dual meet in the 100 breast. The Tribe has won all five dual meets this season and done so by an average of 85 points.
Scouting Davidson's Women: Davidson comes into Saturday's meet with a 3-1 record, but the Wildcats have not competed in a dual meet since late October. The home team defeated Queens College, Old Dominion, and ECU, with the squad's lone loss coming at Richmond. The Wildcats defeated Old Dominion 167-111, and ECU 197-77, while the Tribe defeated both teams 185-73 and 179-80 respectively last weekend.
Scouting the Tribe Men: The William & Mary men's team is coming off a 166.5-93.5 over Old Dominion last weekend, taking first place in 11 of the 14 events.
John O'Hara helped the Tribe to a win in the 4x100 free relay and also took home first-place honors in the 200 free and the 100 fly on his way to being named the CAA Swimmer of the Week. In his first action of the season,
Kyle Demers won the 100 breast, and
Micah Lowe swept both backstroke events to continue an impressive freshman campaign.
Graham Hertweck made the most of his final swim in the Bee McLeod Rec Center placing first in the 50 and 100 free events, and
Gavin Lamoureux finished first in the 200 fly and second in the 100.
Scouting Davidson's Men: The Davidson team will come into Saturday's meet with a 1-1-1 record through three dual meets this season. The team has not participated in a dual meet since October and last competed at the Bucknell Invitational November 19-21 finishing third out of seven teams. The Wildcats have a win over Queens College, and tied with Old Dominion with a score of 147-147. Davidson's men earned their first dual meet win of the year with a 216-194 besting of George Mason on October 23.
