Zoe Doughty Named to the VaSID All-State First Team

NORFOLK, Va. – William & Mary junior Zoe Doughty was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors University Division All-State First Team on Wednesday, the organization announced.

Doughty enjoyed a stellar campaign in 2021, being named the Colonial Athletic Association Goalkeeper of the Year. She was also the fourth Tribe goalkeeper to earn All-CAA First Team honors. She also became the first Tribe player to earn VaSID All-State First Team honors since Elysse Branton, Rachel Moore and Sarah Segan were named to the top team in 2017.

Doughty returned to the Tribe lineup on Oct. 7 against UNCW and established herself as the top goalkeeper in the CAA over the final seven matches. She registered four clean sheets in her seven CAA starts to go along with a goals against average of 0.38 and a save % of 93.2. Both her save % and GAA would lead the country if she met the NCAA minimum for games played. In CAA play, she topped the league in GAA, save %, saves (40) and saves per game (5.71).

She tallied three-straight shutouts against Drexel (Oct. 10), Hofstra (Oct. 17) and Elon (Oct. 21). Doughty recorded a career-high 10 saves in blanking the Pride and tallied eight saves against both Drexel and Elon. Over the final seven matches, she allowed just one goal in regulation time. Doughty was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18 and was also selected to both the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News National Teams of the Week as well.

Virginia head coach Steve Swanson was named state coach of the year after being named the ACC Coach of the Year following an 18-3-2 season and an undefeated ACC regular season at 8-0-2. The Cavaliers' Diana Ordonez was named the state player of the year after leading the ACC in goals (18) and points. She was named First Team All-American and ACC Offensive Player of the Year as well as being the MAC Hemann Trophy Semifinalist.

Old Dominion's Emily Roberts and Radford's Kat Parris earned state defensive player of the year and rookie of the year, respectively. Roberts was the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and leaguge's tournament defensive MVP. Parris was the Big South Rookie of the year after leading the league in goals and points.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
