WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - In reaction to a recent spike in the number of active positive student COVID-19 cases, William & Mary has updated its campus protocols, including mandatory masking at all campus events, including athletics.

The mandate, which goes into effect immediately, requires attendees at all indoor or outdoor events to wear a mask properly fitted over their nose and mouth.  The requirement is always in effect while on campus grounds, unless the individual is actively eating or drinking or can maintain appropriate physical distancing of at least six feet from others.
 
Although the numbers remain low relative to the size of our overall student population and to date the cases have been mild, the recent actions were put in place with the goal of slowing the spread over the next two weeks. 

The Tribe will play its first home football game on Saturday evening, and is hosting events for field hockey, volleyball, women's golf, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's soccer.
