BURLINGTON, N.C. - The William & Mary women's golf team shot a round 3 best 292 (+8) to win the Elon Invitational on Tuesday at the Alamance Country Club, and senior Sarah Houle (Sandy Hook, Conn.) won the individual title by four shots.
 
For the tournament, W&M shot a 881 (+29) which was the third-best 54-hole score to par in school history. It is the 31st all-time team title for the Tribe and the third in the last four years. Their last win came at the Hound Ears Intercollegiate in 2019.
 
The Tribe surpassed Elon who finished the tournament in second with a 296 (+12) on the day and an 884 (+32) overall. Gardner-Webb, who started the day in first, finished the tournament in third with a 300 (+16) in round 3 and an overall tournament score of 885 (+33).
 
Houle not only shot the best round 3 of the tournament at 69 (-2) and a 211 (-2) overall but also the fourth-best 54-hole score to par in school history. Both the third round and overall scores were career-bests for Houle. The last individual title for the Tribe was Allison Olberding at the Hounds Ears Intercollegiate in 2019.  
 
Mikah McDonnell (Webster, N.Y.) joined Houle in the top-five of the tournament, finishing fifth, shooting a 77 (+6) on the day and a 219 (+6) overall. Her 54-hole total was a career-best. Freshman Isabel Bae (Bristow, Va.) finished the tournament tied for eighth, carding a 70 (-1) on the day and 222 (+9) overall. Junior Cindy Zhou (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) shot a 76 (+5) in round 3, including an eagle on the par 5 sixth hole, and a 229 (+16) overall to finish the tournament tied for 14th place. Redshirt Senior Stefanie Guizar-Diaz (Clearwater, Fla.) finished the tournament in 24th place shooting a 78 (+7) on the day and a 236 (+23) overall.
 
The Tribe returns to action at the Edsito Island Invitational, Oct. 10-12, in South Carolina.
