WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head men's soccer coach
Chris Norris announced the Tribe's 2021 fall schedule on Monday. The 15-match slate features seven home contests and a trio of tilts against ACC competition.
Highlighting the home non-conference portion of the schedule is a visit from 2021 NCAA Tournament team Virginia Tech on Sept. 21. The Hokies advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tourney in the spring. The Green and Gold will also host regional non-conference tilts with St. Francis (Pa.) (Sept. 10) and George Washington (Sept. 14).
The road slate includes trips to ACC foes Wake Forest (Oct. 5) and N.C. State (Oct. 19) in October. The Tribe takes on the Demon Deacons for the ninth time. Wake finished last season at 13-3-2 and advanced to the final eight in the NCAA Tournament. The Tribe and Wolfpack have played a very competitive series with N.C. State holding a slight 5-4-1 advantage. The last meeting in 2019 was a 1-1 draw in Williamsburg.
The Green and Gold starts the fall with a scrimmage at American on Aug. 21. The Eagles advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament during the spring season.
The Tribe opens the regular season at Old Dominion on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. W&M and ODU meet for the fourth-straight season and 57th time overall. The Tribe also travels to regional foe Loyola (Md.) on Sept. 29 during the non-conference slate.
W&M kicks off Colonial Athletic Association play by hosting Northeastern on Sept. 18 at noon. The Tribe will also have home league matches with Charleston (Oct. 2), Drexel (Oct. 16) and Elon (Nov. 6).
The CAA road schedule includes trips to Hofstra (Sept. 25), reigning CAA Champion James Madison (Oct. 9), Delaware (Oct. 24) and UNCW (Oct. 30). The 2021 CAA Championship will be played in Harrisonburg, Va., with the semifinals set for Nov. 11 and the championship to follow on Nov. 14.
The Tribe returns 10 of its 11 starters and all of its scoring (goals, assists and points) from last spring's 2-4 campaign. Included in its group of returners are four All-CAA players in juniors
Alexander Levengood (first team),
Alfredo Bozalongo (second team) and Marcus Villeda (third team) and sophomore
