RICHMOND, VA.- On the heels of a tremendous opening weekend,
Julia Brown has been named CAA Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league Monday afternoon. Brown was named to the Husky Invitational All-Tournament team after helping the Tribe to a pair of 3-0 sweeps in Dekalb, Ill. last weekend.
The Illinois native hit a blistering .441 over the pair of matches, knocking down ten kills in a season-opening win over Western Illinois and following up with a match-high 11 kills in a victorious effort against Air Force. The middle commanded both sides of the net racking up 3.50 kills per set and adding six blocks on the weekend for a 4.00 points per set average.
Brown's recognition marks the second straight season that a Tribe player has taken home the first Offensive Player of the Year award as
Kate Dedrick earned the honors last spring. The graduate student is no stranger to CAA awards, being named to the all-conference team at the conclusion of last year's season and preseason all-league this fall.
In addition, Brown was named to the All-Rookie team in 2017 and won one Rookie of the Week honor that year. In 2019 she was named Defensive Player of the Week.
