Tribe To Resume April 25 Game Tuesday Evening

RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association has announced that James Madison and William & Mary will resume a baseball game on Tuesday, May 18 that was ended prematurely. The bottom of the seventh inning will resume at 6:30 p.m. at Plumeri Park.

A CAA policy put in place for the 2021 season states that all conference baseball games should be nine innings. When the Dukes and Tribe met in a doubleheader on Sunday, April 25, the first game was mistakenly shortened to seven innings. The two teams will resume the game on May 18 at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg in the bottom of the seventh inning with William & Mary leading 6-3.

If for any reason the game is unable to be resumed on May 18, it will be declared a completed contest with William & Mary as the winner. The conference standings will remain unchanged and only adjusted if necessary at the conclusion of the suspended game.

The game will resume with the Tribe hitting in the bottom of the seventh. Matt Trehub will lead off followed by David Hogarth and Hunter Hart. Matt Howat was the active pitcher for the Tribe when the game originally ended. For a full recap and box score from the first six and a half innings click here.
