The William & Mary men's golf team opened play at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Sunday, shooting a solid round of 295 (+7) to stand fourth overall out of eight teams. The College of Charleston leads the tournaent at 12-under, with Drexel second at 7-under. The Cougars also have the individual lead after Christian Baliker tied the conference record with a round of 64 (-8) to take a four-stroke lead.
For the Tribe, grad student
Preston Ball (Raleigh, N.C.) led the way with a season-low round of 69 (-3), and stands tied for third overall. Freshman
Will Rieck (Brentwood, Tenn.) was the only player in the field to eagle the par-4 17th Sunday, and is tied for 15th overall at 73 (+1), three strokes ahead of junior
Matthew Feinstein (McLean, Va.) who is tied for 22nd. Sophomore
Jimmy Taylor (Alexandria, Va.) is 26th overall with his opening round of 77 (+5), and his classmate
Trevor Binau (Columbus, Ohio) rounds out the team effort in a tie for 33rd after shooting 81 (+9) in the first round.
The CAA Championships continue Monday with one round starting at 8:30 a.m.
