Talon Dingledine Earns Sixth Top 10 as Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C.  - William & Mary men's golf posted the 17th-best score in school history on the way to finishing sixth at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge on Wednesday.
 
Freshman Talon Dingledine led the way for the Tribe, posting his sixth top 10 of the season. He registered all three rounds under par on the way to a 4-under 212 to finish seventh. His six top-10 finishes rank third on the Tribe's single-season list.
 
As a team, the Tribe opened with a 2-over 290 on Monday, before following with a 1-under 287 on Tuesday and an even par 288 on Wednesday. W&M finished the three rounds 1-over 865. It marks the fourth time this season that the Green and Gold posted a 54-hole total that ranks among the top 20 in school history.
 
Individually, W&M student-athletes totaled six rounds under par during the tournament. Along with Dingledine's three, junior Preston Burton (round 3), freshman Eli Felty (round 3), and graduate student Matthew Monastero (round 2) carded 1-under 71's in one of their three rounds at the event.
 
Dingledine opened with 1-under 71's in the opening two rounds, before firing his best round of the event in round 3 at 2-under 70 behind five birdies. He posted 11 birdies over his three rounds.
 
All three of Burton's rounds at the event were par or better. He shot matching even-par 72s in the first two rounds, before recording a 1-under 71 on Wednesday. Burton finished 13th after shooting a 1-under 215 across his three rounds.
 
Felty earned a share of 29th at 219 (+3), while Monastero was 34th at 220 (+4). Monastero led the Tribe with 12 birdies over his three rounds. Sophomore Grady Williams rounded out the Tribe's lineup in 60th at 226 (+10).
 
W&M returns to action next week, April 13-14, at the West Virginia Mountaineer Invitatoinal at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W. Va.
