A Look at the Tribe
W&M enters Wednesday's contest with a 3-6 record overall and a 0-1 mark in conference play.
The Tribe currently ranks 13th nationally in both shooting percentage (.484) and free position shooting percentage (.534), while it leads the Colonial Athletic Association in ground balls per game (19.33) and ranks second in caused turnovers per game (9.0).
Individually,
Belle Martire leads the team in goals (34) and points (43), as she ranks second nationally in free position shooting percentage (.842), fourth in free position goals per game (1.78), 11th in shooting percentage (6.42), 16th in goals per game (3.78) and 20th in points per game (4.78).
Defensively, Caroline Herztberg (1.43) ranks second in the CAA in caused turnovers per game, while
Caroline Donovan and
Courtney Vasquenza are tied for fifth (1.22).
Scouting JMU
JMU has lost three of its last four games and enters Wednesday's contest with a 5-4 record overall and a 0-1 mark in conference play. However, three of the four Dukes' four losses have come against nationally ranked opponents.
As a team, JMU ranks fifth nationally in scoring defense (8.11) and 13th in assists per game. Additionally, the Dukes lead the CAA in caused turnovers per game (9.11).
Individually, Kacey Knobloch leads JMU with 29 points (13g, 16a), while Isabella Peterson has totaled 26 points with a team-high 18 goals. Goalie Molly Dougherty ranks sixth in the country in goals against average (8.21) and 14th in save percentage (.492).

The all-time series is tied at 34-34-1. After winning five consecutive games against JMU from 2005-09, the Tribe has lost the last 12 meetings.
Last Meeting vs. JMU
W&M concluded its 2019 conference road slate with a 16-9 setback at No. 9 James Madison. Although W&M trailed by eight goals early in the second half, it rallied back with a 5-1 run to narrow the margin to 12-8 with 11:09 remaining. The Tribe continued to trail by just four following
Maddie Torgerson's fourth goal of the second half with 8:45 remaining, but JMU held W&M scoreless down the stretch to secure the league victory. Torgerson (4g, 2a) and
Belle Martire (4g) combined to score eight of W&M's nine goals.
Last Time Out
Squaring off against its second consecutive nationally ranked opponent, W&M fell at No. 17/18 Towson, 20-10, last Saturday. W&M trailed by just one, 8-7, early in the second half, but Towson outscored the Tribe 12-3 during the final 24:03 to secure the victory.
Belle Martire led W&M with five goals on just seven shots with four draw controls, while
London Simonides added three points (1g, 2a).
Martire Honored as CAA Player of the Week Twice
W&M standout
Belle Martire has been selected as the CAA Player of the Week twice this season. She garnered her first accolade of the year following a seven-point, eight-draw control effort in the win against Longwood. Martire was honored a second time after recording eight points (7g, 1a) with eight draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls in the victory against Campbell.
Martire Eclipses 100-Goal Mark
Belle Martire became the 21st player in school history to reach the 100-goal mark with her hat trick against Radford. She currently has 107 career goals.
Among W&M's All-Time Best
Goalie
Elsa Rall currently ranks fifth on the Tribe's all-time saves list with 445 career stops. She needs thre more to move into a tie for fourth with Vikki Bovoso (1980-82), who finished her career with 448 stops.
Starr Howard also ranks among the Tribe's best in draw controls and ranks eighth all-time with 101. She needs eight more to move into a tie for seventh with Morgan Lang (2003-06), who finished her career with 109 DC.
Record-Setting Performance
Belle Martire equaled her own single-game school record with 10 points and nearly matched her own single-game record with eight goals in the Tribe's 19-11 victory at Old Dominion earlier this season.
