W&M Women Finish Fifth at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

The William & Mary women's golf team held serve on the final day of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Tuesday, finishing fifth overall for its best showing of the shortened season.  The Tribe totaled 953 (+89) on an tough River Course, that saw players average 83.3 strokes per round for the entire tournament.  Delaware won the event at 912 (+48), 11 strokes ahead of Richmond, and the Blue Hens also had the individual medalist as Oihana Extezerrata shot a brilliant 66 (-6) in the final round and 215 (-1) overall to set the tournament records in both categories.

For the Tribe, sophomore Mikah McDonnell (Webster, N.Y.) had the top finish, taking 18th overall at 238 (+22).  She was one stroke ahead of her classmate Cindy Zhou (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada), who finished 19th at 239 (+23) after a final round of 78 (+6).  Redshirt-junior Stefanie Guizar Diaz (Clearwater, Fla.) tied for 34th at 246 (+30) and grad student Allison Olberding (West Des Moines, Iowa) tied for 40th overall at 252 (+36).  Senior Madison Elliott (Little River, S.C.), competing as individual, was 49th overall at 257 (+41), and her classmate Audrey Pulliam (Little Rock, Ark.) was 59th after shooting 270 (+54) also as an individual.  Junior Sarah Houle (Sandy Hook, Conn.) had a strong second and third rounds, at 73 and 76 for 149 (+5) overall, but did not appear in the standings after a tough disqualification in the first round.

With the regular season now complete, William & Mary turns its attention to the Colonial Athletic Association Championships in two weeks time.  The conference tournament will be held Sunday-Tuesday, April 11-13, at the Grandover East Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
