The William & Mary women's golf team gets back on the course this weekend, traveling up to Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va., on Sunday to take on the University of Richmond. The two teams will play 36 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m., with the best four scores of the varsity five counting.
This will be the second match-up of the Tribe and the Spiders this season, after the two met on Feb. 20 at Kingsmill. Richmond won that one 318-322, in frigid temperatures. Since then, W&M finished 26th out of 41 at the Kiawah Island Classic, while UR finished third in a tri-meet with Virginia and ODU, and took eighth out of 13 at the River Landing Classic.
This weekend, the Tribe will be taking a full scoring line-up of five. Junior
Sarah Houle (Sandy Hook, Conn.) is slotted in at number one, after she led W&M at Kiawah in a tie for 17th overall at 223 (+7). She was also tied for fifth in the first dual meet, and is averaging 76 (+4) in her four rounds this season. Sophomore
Cindy Zhou (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) is in the number two spot with a season average of 80.5 (+8.5). In the first dual meet, Zhou was second overall with a 78, just one stroke off the lead. Grad student
Allison Olberding (West Des Moines, Iowa) is also averaging 80.5 on the year, while seniors
Audrey Pulliam (Little Rock, Ark.) and
Madison Elliott (Little River, S.C.) are each making their second appearance of the year after carding matching 84's in the first match with Richmond.
