W&M-Campbell All-Time Series
Saturday's game will be the first meeting between W&M and CU.
Versus the Big South
W&M owns a 22-3 all-time record versus teams currently in the Big South. W&M controls the all-time series against Longwood (19-2) and Gardner-Webb (2-0), while it is 1-1 versus Winthrop. The Tribe has never played Campbell, High Point, Presbyterian or Radford.
Last Time Out
W&M posted a resilient comeback bid in the closing minutes of its contest against Liberty but was unable to overcome a seven-goal deficit and fell to the Flames, 20-16, on Senior Day at Busch Turf last weekend.
Belle Martire led W&M with six points (4g, 2a) and equaled a career high with eight draw controls, which she initially recorded in last week's win at Longwood. In addition to scoring on all four of her shot attempts, she also added a caused turnover.
Closing in on 100 Goals
Belle Martire currently has 92 goals and needs just eight more to become the 21st player in school history to reach the 100-goal mark.
Impressive Stretch
After totaling five draw controls through the first three games,
Belle Martire has posted 16 in the last two contests. She posted a career-high eight DC in the win at Longwood and matched that effort in the following contest versus Liberty.
Among W&M's All-Time Best
Goalie
Elsa Rall currently ranks fifth on the Tribe's all-time saves list with 427 career stops. She needs 21 more to move into a tie for fourth with Vikki Bovoso (1980-82), who finished her career with 448 stops.
Starr Howard also ranks among the Tribe's best in draw controls and ranks eighth all-time with 100. She needs nine more to move into a tie for seventh with Morgan Lang (2003-06), who finished her career with 109 DC.
Belle Martire Honored as CAA Player of the Week
After posting a tremendous performance in W&M's 22-16 win at Longwood,
Belle Martire was honored as the CAA Player of the Week. Martire led W&M with a game-high seven points (5g, 2a), a career-high eight draw controls and three ground balls. Additionally, she recorded a .625 shooting percentage and converted on her only free position attempt.
Record-Setting Performance
Belle Martire equaled her own single-game school record with 10 points and nearly matched her own single-game record with eight goals in the Tribe's 19-11 victory at Old Dominion earlier this season.
Captains
W&M is led by a quintet of senior captains this season –
Elsa Rall,
Audrey Hoeg,
Sophie Kopec,
Anne Milwicz and
Devon Fleischmann. All five captains have distinguished themselves as outstanding leaders both on and off the field throughout their careers.
