The William & Mary women's golf team persevered through a tough round Monday at the Kiawah Island Classic, and stands 28th overall with a 36-hole score of 627 (+51) heading into the final day.  Dallas Baptist has opened up a sizable lead in the 41-team tournament at 569 (-7), while among individuals Murray State's Raeysha Surendran is three strokes in the lead at 137 (-7).

Leading the way for the second round in a row for the Tribe was junior Sarah Houle (Sandy Hook, Conn.), after she shot an impressive 72 (E) on Monday.  Only one in every 10 golfers in the tournament shot par or better in the second round, and Houle still ranks in the top-20 for the week with seven birdies.  That round moved her up to a tie for 24th overall, at 148 (+4) after two days.  Redshirt-junior Stefanie Guizar Diaz (Clearwater, Fla.) and sophomore Mikah McDonnell (Webster, N.Y.) are tied at 134th overall and 159 (+15) for the tournament, shooting 81 and 83, respectively, in the second round.  Grad student Allison Olberding (West Des Moines, Iowa) carded an 82 Monday to stand tied for 162nd at 162 (+18), and sophomore Cindy Zhou (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) heads into the final day tied for 176th overall at 165 (+21).

The third and final round of the Kiawah Island Classic will find W&M returning to the Oak Point Course (par 72, 5958 yards) that it played in the first round.  The Tribe will tee off beginning at 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
