ANNAPOLIS Md., -Â The William & Mary women's track & field team opened its indoor season at the Navy Invitational I on Saturday morning at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The Tribe broke two school records and two freshmen records.

Field Events
Long Jump
Chelsea Mitchell earned first place at 5.97m (19'7")Â in the vent. Mitchell earned a personal best and broke W&M school record that had stood since 2008.
Megan Heidebrecht took second place at 5.75m (18'10.5").Â
Weight Throw
Eva Mustafic also finished strong placing second, at 16.57m (54'4"), while
Chelsea Wallace placed in the top 10 at 10th with 13.04m (42'9).
Triple Jump Â
Over in triple jump, both
Dana Abraham and
Megan Heidebrecht placed in the top five. Abraham finished fourth at 11.68m (38'), while Heidebrecht placed fifth at 11.64 (38'2.25).
Pole Vault
In the pole vault event,
Sophie Fernandez placed fourth in the field event with 3.70m (12'1.5).
Elizabeth Upright finished the event in ninth with 3.40m (11'1.75).
High Jump
Rounding it out for the field events two Tribe athletes finished in the top 10.
Ellie St. Martin placed in sixth with 1.62m (5'3.75), while
Maddie Hitchcock finished right behind in seventh at 1.5'7m (5'1.75).

Running Events:
60m Â
The Tribe women started off strong in the running events. Mitchell set another school record in the 60m dash finishing in fourth place at 7.74.
Anna Kessler earned a spot in the freshmen school record books, placing 8th at 7.83.
400mÂ
Mary Gregory and
Amaya Johnson both finished in the top five. Gregory placed second at 56.33, with Johnson right behind bringing it home for the Tribe in the fourth position at 56.65.
500m
Over in the 500m,
Grace Bir finished first runner up for the Tribe at 1:15.72. Mechanicsville, Va., native
Makenzie Joiner placed in fourth at 1:17.73.
Clare Howard, rounded it out for the Tribe settling in ninth place at 1:22.20.
200mÂ
As the only Tribe athlete to compete in the event, freshmen
Emily Ervin placed second overall at 25.03 and broke freshmen school records, held since 2020.
4x400m
The 4x400m relay team of, Amaya Johnson, Mary Gregory, Makenzie Joiner, and Grace Bir won the event with an ECAC qualifying time of 3:48.28.
