W&M News and Notes
- William & Mary will head to Charlottesville Thursday night for the team's 13th meeting with Virginia. The in-state rivals have not met on the hardwood since the 1999-20 season, and the Tribe will be looking for a second all-time victory over UVA.

- Last time out, the Tribe took a 58-41 victory over Hampton Monday night in Kaplan Arena. Balanced scoring was key for the Tribe as three players, Sydney Wagner (15), Bre Bellamy (10), and Ava Stevenson (10) all scored in double-figures. Overall, nine players found their way into the scoresheet for the Green and Gold.

- True freshman Ruthie Montella made her first career start in Monday's win. The Illinois native played 29 minutes and had six assists to go with three points, and a pair of steals. The guard has been strong with the ball with 13 total assists this season and better than a 3:1 assist to turnover ratio. Montella is the second freshman to start this season, as Dani McTeer has started all six games this year.

- The Tribe has held two opponents to under 50 points so far this season. Under head coach Ed Swanson, the Tribe has held opponents to under 50 points in 29 games and are 28-1 in those contests.

Bre Bellamy was just one rebound short of her second straight double-double in Monday's win. Bellamy has scored in double-figures in each of the five games she has played this season and has been one of the most efficient scorers in the nation. Bellamy leads the CAA and ranks 22nd nationally shooting 61% from the field.

- The Tribe put the clamps on Hamtpon Monday night allowing just 41 points on 33% from the field and 11% from deep. Defense has been the hallmark of coach Swanson's team through six games this season. The Tribe ranks second in the CAA and 40th nationally allowing just 53.8 points per game. William & Mary is holding opponents to 18% from three this season, tops in the CAA and fifth best in the NCAA.

- Freshman Ava Stevenson had her best shooting performance of her young career in Monday's win. Stevenson scored a season-high 10 points in 18 minutes off the bench. The guard was 4-7 from the field and knocked down her only three-point attempt. In limited action, Stevenson is averaging 8.0 points per game and has made 8-14 field goals, 4-6 from deep.

Freshman post player Dani McTeer has gotten the start in each of the six games this season and been one of Swanson's most consistant players. McTeer is averaging 8.7 points per game and scored at least eight in five of six games this season. The Norfolk product is shooting 47% from the field and 84% from the free-throw line.

- Sydney Wagner knocked down three, three-point shots for the third straight game on Monday night. Last season, Wagner led the NCAA averaging just under four baskets from behind the arc per game.

- W&M    head    coach    Ed    Swanson    enjoyed    a    noteworthy    2019-20    season    individually.  He  was  named  the  CAA  Co-Coach  of  the  Year  following  the  Tribe's  historic  season.  Swanson  won  his  500th  career  game  on  Nov.  26,  became  just  the  third  coach  in  W&M  history  to  win  100  games  with  the  Tribe  on  Jan.  12,  and was inducted into the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in January.
