RICHMOND, VA.- For the third time this fall,
Missy Cundiff has been named the CAA Swimmer of the Week as announced by the conference Tuesday morning. This time, the honor comes after a dominating performance from the senior at the WVU Invitation where Cundiff won three individual events and set a CAA, and William & Mary record 21.98 time in the 50 free.
The record breaking time came in Thursday's prelims, and qualified the senior for the NCAA B cut. Cundiff would blow away the competition in the 50 free finals with a 22.23 gold medal time. Also on Thursday, Cundiff teamed up with
Anna Kenna,
Sydney Querner, and
Katie Stevenson for a first place finish in the 200 free relay.
On Friday, Cundiff earned a pair of wins to continue her outstanding meet. The sprinter showed versatility swimming to a first place time of 55.07 in the 100 back which is the third fastest time in the CAA this season and later took first in the 200 medley relay with teammates Stevenson,
Annie Tuttle, and
Maura Graff. Cundiff added a punctuation mark on the weekend winning the 100 free with a 49.77 touch time, the second best mark in the conference this year.
Cundiff's 21.98 time qualified her for NCAA National Championships under the B standard. The time was the tenth fastest of any Division I women's swimmer this season. The mark shattered the previous CAA standard by .31 seconds.
