W&M News and Notes
- The Tribe and Georgia State were both members of the Colonial Athletic Association together between 2005-13. W&M holds an 8-6 advantage in the all-time series and won the last meeting between the schools, 75-63, in Williamsburg in 2013. The programs met twice at neutral sites, playing in the opening round of the CAA Tournament in both 2007 and 2008.

- As part of the Legends Classic, the Tribe will face either High Point or Howard on Sunday. W&M and High Point have met eight of the last 10 years and the teams have split those meetings with each winning four. HPU leads the all-time series at 6-5. W&M won head coach Dane Fischer's coaching debut at High Point, 70-56, in 2019, while HPU won in Williamsburg last season, 71-49. W&M and Howard met six-straight years between 2010-15. The Tribe leads the all-time series at 4-2. The Bison won the last meeting 79-77 in Washington, D.C. in 2015.

- In the setback at Norfolk State, the Tribe knocked down 13 3-pointers and shot 39.4% from downtown. The 13 made 3-pointers equaled the most W&M has hit from beyond the arc under head coach Dane Fischer. The Tribe also made 13 against Morehead State in Kaplan Arena in 2019. It marked the eighth time W&M hit double-digit 3-pointers under Fischer and the Tribe is 5-3 in those games. Sophomore Yuri Covington, who led W&M with 14 points against NSU, knocked down a career-high four 3-pointers against the Spartans.

- Grad student Brandon Carroll blocked five shots in the Tribe's game at Norfolk State. His five rejections are the most in a game by a CAA player this season. Carroll currently leads the CAA and ranks 37th nationally at 2.7 blocked shots per game.

- Sophomore Ben Wight is the Tribe's leading scorer and ranks ninth in the CAA at 14.3 points per game. He tallied a career-high 18 points in the Tribe's opener at Wake Forest. According to KenPom.com, Wight ranks seventh the country in fouls drawn at 10.3 per 40 minutes. His free throws made and attempted numbers lead the CAA and rank eighth and 19th  in the nation, respectively. Wight also ranks eighth in the CAA in field goal % at 57.9 and 15th in rebounding (6.0).

- Freshman Tyler Rice has proven to be one of the top assist men in not only the CAA, but the country. The point guard leads the CAA at 5.3 assists per game, which is also 51st nationally. According to KenPom.com, his assist rate of 43.6 is 29th nationally. In the opener at Wake Forest, Rice dished out nine assists which were the most for a Tribe freshman in a debut in program history.

- As a team, the Tribe ranks eighth nationally in assist rate, recording an assist on 68.7% of its made field goals. In the opener at Wake Forest, the Tribe dished out 17 assists on 22 made field goals and added 17 assist at Norfolk State.

- For the second-straight season, W&M ranks as one of the youngest teams in the country in terms of minutes played by underclassmen according to KenPom.com. After ranking as the 34th youngest team in the country in 2020-21, the Tribe is the 19th youngest team this season, averaging just 1.06 years of experience based on minutes played. This season, W&M started four freshmen and sophomores in each contest, including all five starters at Norfolk State. The two classes have accounted for 76.5% of the team's minutes (459-of-600) and 73.3% of its scoring (143-of-195).

- W&M will play seven of its first nine games away from Williamsburg in 2021. It has been a common theme for W&M over the last three years. Over head coach Dane Fischer's first three seasons, the Tribe has played or is scheduled to play 23 of its 34 nonconference games away from Williamsburg. The Tribe has won 15 road games over the last two seasons, including a school-record 10 in 2019-20.

- As a team, the Tribe was picked 10th in the preseason CAA standings for the second-straight year. Delaware was the preseason pick to win it. Last season, W&M finished seventh. In 2019-20, W&M was picked seventh in the preseason and finished second with a 13-5 league mark.

- Four former W&M players are either playing or coaching in the NBA. Nathan Knight '20 signed his second two-way NBA contract and is with the Minnesota Timberwolves.  He saw action in 33 regular-season games, averaging 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game for the Eastern Conference Finalist Atlanta Hawks in 2020-21.
