Zoe Doughty Named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer junior Zoe Doughty was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Doughty tallied a career-high 10 saves in blanking the league's top-scoring offense Hofstra on the road as part of a scoreless draw on Sunday. It marked her second-straight clean sheet after she shut out Drexel on Oct. 10. Doughty neutralized the Pride with five saves in each half along with her ability to control the air on crosses. Perhaps her biggest stop of the day came in the 50th minute with a kick save of Georgia Brown's shot from 10 yards out.

Doughty returned to the Tribe's starting lineup against UNCW on Oct. 7 and has started the last three matches. She owns a goals against average of just 0.28 over that stretch to go along with recording saves on 22 of the 23 shots she has faced. The Tribe has now recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2016.

Monday's award marks Doughty's second career accolade. She took home of the honor last spring following an eight-save performance in a road shutout of Charleston.

The Tribe returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 21, when it welcomes Elon to Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed on FloFC.
