WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer hits the road to take on No. 6-ranked Hofstra on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for noon from the Hofstra Soccer Stadium in Hempstead.
All contests in CAA play will be streamed on FloFC.

- The Tribe (3-7-1, 1-2-1 CAA) is coming off a pair of strong defensive efforts last weekend, allowing just a goal in over 200 minutes of action. After falling in a 1-0 overtime match with UNCW on Thursday, Oct. 7, the Green and Gold played Drexel to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 10.
- W&M holds a slim 11-9-3 advantage in the all-time series with Hofstra. The Pride won a 2-1 decision in the team's last meeting in Williamsburg in 2019. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in the last contest in Hempstead in 2018.
- Hofstra is ranked No. 6 in the country by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 12 by the United Soccer Coaches. The Pride is 12-2 on the year, including a 4-1 CAA mark. HU had won 10 in a row before falling to Northeastern, 1-0, on Thursday. According to Top Drawer Soccer, the Pribe has two of the top 50 players in the country in midfielders Miri Taylor (No. 13) and Lucy Shepard (No. 33), who are both from England. Taylor leads the CAA in both points (35) and goals (14). Shepard has 18 points on five goals and eight assists. Midfielder Lucy Potter leads the CAA in assist with nine. Georgia Brown, who has five goals on the year, is the No. 21-ranked freshman in the country according to Top Drawer Soccer. Skylar Kuzmich has started every game for Hofstra and owns a 0.50 GAA with seven shutouts and 34 saves.

Zoe Doughty made her first two starts of the season last weekend against UNCW and Drexel. In 207:22, she allowed just one goal for a goals against average of 0.43. She tallied 12 saves over the two contests, including matching her career-high of eight in recording her second career shutout vs. Drexel.

Riley Friesen was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 27. The rookie defender has started all 11 matches and tops the Tribe having played 1015 of 1022 total minutes this season. Friesen helped the Tribe defense hold CofC to just a 20% shooting accuracy with just three of 15 shots finding the target.

Addie Puskar was named the W&M Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the Virginia Lottery on Sept. 28. The goal against Charleston was her second career goal. Puskar has started all eight matches for W&M and has been effective at both defender and forward.

Kayleigh Shackford leads the Tribe in goals with two. Along with her game-winner vs. ECU, she converted a penalty kick in the Tribe's season-opening win at American.
- The Tribe roster consists mainly of freshmen and sophomores with 18 of the 30 student-athletes coming from those two classes. In total 15 of those 18 have seen game action in 2021, including 10 that have earned starts. In total, eight of W&M's 10 freshmen have seen action.
- W&M alumna Kathy Carter '91 was recently elevated to chief executive of the Organizing Committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. She previously served as the Chief Revenue Officer of LA28 since 2018. Carter, who earned her degree in government, was a standout goalie for the Tribe from 1987-90 and still holds the school record of a 0.78 goals-against-average.
- The Tribe has enjoyed great success in the classroom recently. As a team, W&M sports a 3.53 cumulative GPA, following a 3.6 semester in the spring. In total, 30 W&M student-athletes earned CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll distinction last year and 23 received W&M Provost Award honors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Tribe alum and two-time World Cup winner Jill Ellis '88 was named the president of the latest National Women's Soccer League expansion team in San Diego in June. The team will start play in NWSL beginning in the Spring of 2022.
