WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary women's soccer returns to the road Sunday, Sept. 13, when the Tribe travels to Washington, D.C., to take on American.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., with the match streaming on ESPN+.
THE TRIBE. William & Mary enters Sunday at 0-4-2 following a 2-2 draw against VCU on Senior Day at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Sophomore forward Ellie Leffler scored both goals for the Tribe, twice giving W&M the lead in the second half.
Through six matches, the Tribe has scored seven goals on 60 shots, including 28 on goal. W&M has also generated 31 corner kicks.
LEFFLER HEATING UP. Sophomore forward Ellie Leffler enters Sunday coming off the first two-goal performance of her collegiate career. Leffler opened the scoring against VCU in the 48th minute before finding the back of the net again in the 63rd.
The reigning CAA Rookie of the Year has scored three goals, matching her season total last year, and is tied with sophomore Mia Abbey for the team lead with three goals. Leffler has scored on three of her nine shots this season and has put five attempts on frame.
ABBEY LEADS THE ATTACK. Abbey continues to lead William & Mary with seven points on three goals and an assist. She also leads the Tribe with 17 shots and 10 shots on goal through six matches.
Abbey recorded at least one point in each of W&M's first four matches, scoring in each of the first three before assisting on Leffler's goal at App State.
SECOND-HALF SUCCESS. William & Mary has done the majority of its damage after halftime this season. Six of the Tribe's seven goals have come in the second half.
W&M has also recorded 35 of its 60 shots and 20 of its 31 corner kicks after halftime.
SEARCHING FOR A ROAD WIN. The Tribe will look to snap a road winless streak Sunday in Washington. W&M's last victory away from Williamsburg came on Sept. 19, 2024, when the Tribe earned a 3-0 win at Hampton.
William & Mary is 0-2-1 away from home this season, earning a 1-1 draw at Loyola Maryland before setbacks at Army and App State.
THE EAGLES. American enters Sunday's match at 0-5-2 overall and 0-2-1 at home. The Eagles are coming off a 5-1 road loss to George Washington on Thursday.
American played Elon to a scoreless draw at home Sunday for its second tie of the season.
TRIBE VS. EAGLES. William & Mary is unbeaten in 12 all-time meetings with American, holding an 11-0-1 advantage in the series.
The Tribe earned a 3-1 victory over the Eagles last season on Aug. 31, 2025, in Williamsburg. The lone draw in the series came on Sept. 4, 2022, when the teams played to a scoreless tie in Williamsburg.
W&M is 5-0 all-time on the road against American.
