The William & Mary women's track & field team got the weekend started at Penn State's National Open on Friday evening, with all four entries finishing in the top-12 of their events. The Tribe's four athletes were in two events, the pole vault and the triple jump.

- First, in the vault, junior
Taylor E. Jones (Fairfax Station, Va.) led the way in sixth place overall, clearing the bar at 3.52m (11-6.5). Senior
Lauren Graves (Fredericksburg, Va.) also cleared the same height, but finished tied for seventh on the basis of attempts. Redshirt-junior
Sophie Caplan (Clarksville, Md.) topped 11 feet for the third-straight meet, and tied for 11th at 3.37m (11-0.75).
- Later in the evening, senior
Alexis Brender a Brandis (Williamsburg, Va.) competed in the triple jump, hitting the sand at 11.59m (38-0.25) for 12th overall. That was also the 12th-longest jump indoors in school history, and just two centimeters off her personal indoor-best set earlier this season at Navy.
The Penn State National Open resumes on Saturday morning, starting with the 400m dash at 10:20 a.m.
