PHILADELPHIA – Off to its best conference start in 37 years, William & Mary men's basketball completes an opening CAA stretch of five road contests in the first seven league games at Drexel on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. from the Daskalakis Athletic Center, and the game will be broadcast on FloHoops.
The Tribe's remaining 12 CAA games will be streamed on FloHoops. A

W&M News and Notes
- W&M is 6-0 to start CAA play for the second time in school history. As of Jan. 16, W&M is one of two teams nationally to start conference play 6-0, along with San Diego State (7-0). The Tribe completed the 1982-83 season at 9-0 in the ECAC South, which was the precursor to the CAA. It marks just the fourth time in W&M history the Tribe has started league play at 6-0 or better and just the second time in the last 87 years.
- Defense has been the Tribe's calling card during its 6-0 league start. In CAA games, W&M leads the league defensively in scoring (64.2), field goal % (40.1), effective FG % (46.0), 2-point % (45.5) and 3-point % (31.3), while ranking second in defensive efficiency (97.2). Overall, W&M leads the CAA in field goal % defense (40.9).
- W&M's offense has been hitting on all cylinders in league play. In CAA games, the Tribe leads the league in offensive efficiency (113.9), field goal % (49.5) and effective field goal % (56.5) along with ranking second in scoring (75.2) and 2-point % (56.5). Overall, W&M ranks 13th nationally in effective field goal % (55.1), 31st in field goal % (47.3), 47th in 3-point % (36.6) and 61st in free throw % (74.5).
- This season, the Tribe is 10-0 when holding teams to less than 70 points and 9-0 when teams fail to shoot 40% from the field. The Tribe has held each of its last five opponents to less than 70 points and an average 62.4, while three of W&M's last five foes have shot less than 40% from the field.
- W&M leads the country with eight road wins. The Tribe became the first program in CAA history to start 3-0 with all three wins on the road. It marked the sixth time in program history that Green and Gold picked up eight road wins, which ranks second in W&M history. The Tribe tied a school record with three-straight road wins to open the year.
- Senior
Nathan Knight add to his list of accolades being named one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes excellence in community, classroom, character and competition. Last week, he was named to the mid-season watch lists for CollegeInsider.com's Lute Olsen National Player of the Year and Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year awards. He was also selected to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List by the USBWA on Dec. 6. For the second-straight year, Knight was one of 20 players named to the preseason watch list for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year award after being one of five finalists in 2019.
- Freshman
Miguel Ayesa was a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range in the win at Delaware. It tied a school record, accomplished on 10 occasions, including Ayesa earlier this season at Wofford. He is one of only two players in W&M, along with Daniel Dixon '17, to have multiple games of four made 3's without a miss. He leads the CAA in league games at 50% (9-of-18) from 3.
- Knight, who was listed among the top 25 players in the country by ESPN.com recently, has posted fifth-straight double-double and leads the country with 15 on the year. He is one of two players nationally averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Knight is 14th in the country in rebounding (10.6) and 24th in scoring (20.3). He ranks sixth, among players with a 28% or higher usage rate, in offensive rating according to KenPom.com (116.8).
- Knight and
Andy Van Vliet have been double trouble for Tribe opponents. They are the only teammates in the country averaging 14 points and nine rebounds per game. They are only the fifth teammates to do so since 1992-93. Knight and Van Vliet are also the only pair of teammates in the country with at least eight double-doubles apiece. Van Vliet is 19th at eight double-doubles. They have both tallied a double-double in the same game six times.
- The Tribe was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I Team of the Week on Jan. 7. During the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5, W&M won three road games in six days to start CAA play. As part of its league start, the Tribe swept the league's northeast road trip of the first time with wins at Hofstra and Northeastern.
- In the NCAA.com's March Madness Power 36 by Andy Katz, the Tribe was rated No. 36 in the country on Monday. After earning its first CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 ranking since 2016 last week, W&M moved up to a CAA-best No. 19 this week.
- Knight was named the CAA Player of the Week a league-high third time on Jan. 6. He averaged 21 points and 9.7 rebounds per game during the three CAA road wins. Knight, who previously earned honors on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9, tied the program record of six career honors previously held by former All-American Marcus Thornton '15.
- W&M head coach
Dane Fischer has been recognized by Stadium, ESPN and NCAA.com for the Tribe's success this season. This week, Jeff Goodman of Stadium had Fischer seventh on his power rankings for national coach of the year. NCAA.com writer Mike Lopresti ranked Fischer No. 8 on the list of first-year head coaches. ESPN's Jeff Borzello listed him among three coaches in his Mid-Major surprises as part of his first-year coaching scorecard.
- Junior
Luke Loewe is enjoying a breakout season. He leads the CAA in 3-point % (45.3) and ranks fifth in field goal % (55.6). According to KenPom.com, he is 24th nationally in 3-point % in DI games (48.0), 18th in effective field goal % (66.2) and 26th in true shooting % (66.9). Loewe has nearly tripled his scoring average from last season to 11.1.
- After missing nine games due to injury, sophomore
Thornton Scott returned with the start of CAA play. He is averaging 6.7 points and 4.7 assists per game in 23.7 minutes since returning. In league games, Scott ranks second in the CAA in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3). W&M is 10-0 this season with Scott in the lineup.
- Loewe has been impressive defensively to start CAA play. As the primary defender, he held three of the CAA's top-four scoring guards – Grant Riller (21.9), Northeastern's Jordan Roland (21.6) and Hofstra's Desure Buie (19.1) – to just 9-of-40 shooting (22.5%) and an average of nine points per game. Both Roland (7) and Rillers (10) posted season-low scoring totals against Loewe and the Tribe.
- In 13 of its 19 games, the Tribe has outrebounded its opponent and W&M is 11-2 in those contests. The Tribe leads the CAA and ranks 52nd nationally in rebounding margin (+5.5).
