Women's Golf Adds Three Freshmen for 2019-20 Season

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's golf coach Ed Teer announced the addition of three women's golfers to the roster. Mikah McDonnell, Mimi Taylor, and Cindy Zhou will all continue their academic and golf careers with the Tribe starting in the 2019-20 academic year.
 
Mikah McDonnell, 5-1, Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas
HIGH SCHOOL
Played six years of varsity golf at Webster Thomas High School in New York … Tabbed an NYS Scholar-Athlete from her seventh-grade year through her senior year … Was the NYS Section V Champion her junior and senior seasons … Won a fan vote to play in the Symetra Tour Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic … Earned medalist honors a the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Turning Stone Junior Open in 2018.

Was a multi-sport athlete at the Marist School in Atlanta playing golf, basketball, swimming, track, and volleyball … Won the Club Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club as well as the Women's Golfer of the Year in the junior program in 2016 … Ranked the in the SJGT at Saugahatchee Golf Club in 2017 … Placed sixth in the SJGT Championship at Sea Island Retreat Course in 2018 … Ranked fifth in the state in 2016 in the 100-meter dash … Broke the high school record for the 100-meter and the 4x100-meter in seventh and eighth grade … Won the Physical Education Award in 2017 and 2018 … In the classroom, is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Student Council Treasurer, and a School Ambassador … Earned AP Scholar with Honors and was a dean's list and honor roll recipient.

Comes to W&M after playing varsity golf at Montverde Academy in Florida … Won the 2016 Golfweek Canadian Invitational … Played in both the 2018 US Girls Junior at Poppy Hills and the 2017 IMG Junior Worlds … Had a pair of top-three finishes in her senior season … Placed in the top-five six times during her junior year … As a sophomore had four top-five finishes in tournaments … Graduated Cum Laude from high school … Earned the Montverde Academy Citizenship Award from 2015-19 … Won the 2019 Montverde Academy English IV Excellence Award … Tabbed to the 2018 GGGA Leadership Award and the 2017 GGGA Sportsmanship Award … Member of the GGGA Student Council in 2016-17 … Had the GGGA Highest GPA Award during her sophomore and junior years … During her junior and senior years, won the GGGA Mental Performance Award … Won the Montverde Academy Piano II Excellence Award.
