Tribe Women Finish 11th at Panorama Farms

The William & Mary women's cross country team pulled off an upset of a top-10 regionally-ranked opponent Friday morning at Virginia's Panorama Farms Invitational, finishing 11th overall in the championship-length 6K race.  No. 11 Michigan State won the 15-team meet with 42 points, ahead of second-place Yale (98) and third-place Kentucky (143).  Individually, Florida's Jessica Pascoe won the meet in 20:14.5, almost 11 seconds clear of the field.

How it Happened
For the Tribe, redshirt-junior Liv Paxton (Rock Hill, S.C.) led the way for the second race in a row, finishing 31st overall with a personal-best 21:45.1.  Freshman Emma Rogers (Roanoke, Va.) ran 22:09.9 for 44th in the first 6K race of her lifetime, and junior Lauren Finikiotis (Gibsonia, Pa.) was 54th overall in 22:27.5.  Grad student Rachel Snyder (Purcellville, Va.) ran a strong 22:55.2 for 78th overall, and redshirt-sophomore Taylor D. Jones (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished the team scoring in 83rd overall, crossing the line in 23:03.4.  The varsity line-up was rounded out by redshirt-junior Deirdre Lewin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and freshman Megan Dougherty (Sinking Spring, Pa.), who finished back-to-back in 102nd and 103rd, respectively.

Notes
After running third for W&M in each of the first two meets, Rogers improved to second this week ... Finikiotis has finished on every spot on the podium for W&M in the three races this year ... Paxton led for the second race in a row, after running second for W&M in the season-opening ... W&M avenged its season-opening loss to Richmond, the No. 8 team in the Southeast Region, finishing three spots and 89 points ahead of the Spiders today.
