Joseph Brailovsky and freshman
George Davis completed their impressive run in doubles at the Duke James Bonk Invitational winning the White Draw with a resounding victory on Saturday.
In singles action, the Tribe went 8-4 between the Duke James Bonk Invitational and the Farnsworth-Ivy Plus Invitational on the second day of competition. The Green and Gold was a perfect 5-0 at Duke with Davis and junior
Chen Ruo going 2-0 each. At Princeton, sophomore
Daniel Pellerito was 2-0 on the day.
Duke James Bonk Invitational
Brailovsky and Davis dropped just one game in a convincing 6-1 triumph over North Florida's Dominik Barton and Joe Ellis in the championship match of the White Doubles Draw. The Tribe tandem won all three of its matches at the Invite.
In the Black Singles Draw, Ruo remained unbeaten at the event with a pair of straight-sets wins on Saturday. He opened up with 7-5, 6-4 win over Charlotte's Cole Brainard before topping Joseph Emerson of Liberty, 7-5, 6-2. Ruo pushed his career singles wins total to 20 with his 3-0 weekend mark at Duke.
Along with winning their doubles draw, Brailovsky and Davis both tallied singles wins as well. Playing his first singles match as a member of the Tribe, Brailovsky dropped just one game in a dominating 6-0, 6-1 victory over Charlotte's Henry Lieberman in the White Draw.
Davis needed three sets in both his matches in the Royal Draw on Saturday but rallied to post his first two wins. After dropping the first set, 7-5, to Charlotte's Colin Thomson, Davis bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second and a tiebreaker triumph, 7-6 (5), in the third. In the second match of the day, George Washington's Breno Plentz took the opening set, 6-4, before Davis stormed back to take the final two sets, 6-3, 7-5. He is 2-1 on the year.
Farnsworth-Ivy Plus Invitational
Pellerito led the Tribe charge in Princeton, N.J., with a pair of victories in the consolation side of the Pagoda Singles Draws. He dropped just three games in a 6-2, 6-1 win over Penn State's Chikaya Sato in his opening match on Saturday. The Tribe sophomore closed out the day with a victory over SMU's Gardiner Perotti. Pellerito took the opening set, 6-4, and led 3-0 in the second when Perotti retired.
Senior
Brenden Volk picked up his first win of the fall campaign. He downed Princeton's Kabir Sarita, 6-1, 6-3, in the consolation side of the Tiger Singles Draw.
