George Davis enjoyed a stellar start to their William & Mary men's tennis careers advancing to the finals of the White Flight at the Duke James Bonk Invitational on Friday, highlighting the start to the fall campaign.
In singles action, junior
Finbar Talcott advanced to the quarterfinals of the Nassau Draw at the Farnsworth Ivy Plus Invitational in Princeton, N.J. Classmate
Chen Ruo also posted an opening singles win in the Black Draw at the Duke Invite.
Duke James Bonk Invitational
Brailovsky and Davis knocked off the top seed in the White Flight, upending UNCW's senior duo of Austin Hussey and Michael Copeland, 6-3. Both Seahawks earned All-CAA First Team honors in 2019.
In the semifinals, Brailovsky and Davis downed Furman's Ivan Mitric and Jake Bhangdia, 6-4, for their second win in as many tries. The Tribe tandem meets North Florida's Dominik Barton and Joe Ellis in the White Flight finals on Saturday.
In the Royal Doubles Draw, juniors
Sebastian Quiros and
Chen Ruo split matches. The pair dropped its opener in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7), to the NC State team of Robin Catry and Tristan Smith. Quiros and Ruo bounced back with a 6-4 victory over the Elon pair of Dino Bonetta and Maxwell Zucker. They meet Liberty's Goncalo Ferreira and Deji Thomas-Smith in the flight's fifth-place match on Saturday.
In singles action, Ruo posted a three-set win in the Black Flight. He topped George Washington's Victor Putter, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (3).
Farnsworth Ivy Plus Invitational
Talcott dropped just four games in picking up his first win of the fall campaign. The Green and Gold junior defeated Michigan's Teddy Oosterbaan, 6-1, 6-3, to advance to the quarterfinals of the Nassau Flight. Talcott will face Austen Huang of Columbia on Saturday.
