Dane Fischer announced the addition of
Thatcher Stone (Medford, Mass./Dexter Southfield/Cohasset) to the Tribe for the 2019-20 season. Stone, a 6-7 wing, is the Green and Gold's fourth incoming freshman, joining guards
Miguel Ayesa (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy/ National Top Sports Institute) and
Rainers Hermanovskis (Smiltene, Latvia) and forward
Ben Wight (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) who signed with W&M in June.
"We are very excited to add Thatcher to our program for the upcoming year," Fischer said. "Thatcher has a terrific combination of size, athleticism and skill on the wing which was a need for our team. He competes extremely hard and possesses all the intangibles we are looking for at William & Mary."

Played his senior season at Dexter Southfield alongside a trio of other Division I signees, including Charles Coleman (East Carolina), Noah Kamba (Murray State) and Jordan Mason (Wagner) … At Cohasset in 2017-18, averaged 22 points per game, while shooting 65 percent from the field and 80 percent at the free throw line … Named to the Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic team … Led Cohasset in scoring as a junior at 20 points, six rebounds and three steals per game … Helped the Skippers to a 17-7 record and an appearance in the Division 4 South final … Scored 20-plus points 13 times with a high of 31 vs. Bourne in 2017-18 ... Shot 45 percent from the field. ... Led team with 40 3-pointers. ... Averaged 23.5 points per game during Cohasset's four-game playoff run. ... Named a South Shore League All-Star … Played AAU for WrightWay Skills … Named to the all-tournament first team at the Zero Gravity Nationals with Wrightway Skills in June of 2019.
In total, the Tribe welcomes six newcomers to the roster for the 2019-20 season. Along with the quartet of freshman, W&M added a pair of graduate transfers in
Bryce Barnes (Chicago, Ill./Brogan Prep/Milwaukee) and
Tyler Hamilton (Atlanta, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian/Cheshire Academy/Penn).
W&M returns nine players from a season ago, including pair of starters in senior
Nathan Knight and junior
Luke Loewe, for the program's first campaign under head coach
Dane Fischer. Knight has established himself as one of the top big men in the country and is one of only two returning finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Senior 7-foot transfer
Andy Van Vliet, who sat out last season as a transfer from Wisconsin, bolsters the Tribe roster along with the return of experienced players in junior
