WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head men's tennis coach
Jeff Kader announced the addition of Joseph Brailovsky, a sophomore transfer from South Carolina. Brailovsky, a top-30 junior player and a three-time Maryland State Champion, spent last season as a fixture in the lineup of an NCAA Tournament team and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
"Joseph is going to make a great addition to our program," Kader said. "I have known Joe for a few years now and have always been impressed by his relentless competitiveness. He had a very impressive first year at South Carolina in both singles and doubles, so I am looking forward to seeing the impact he makes on the program."
Brailovsky helped the Gamecocks to an 18-10 record, a final national ranking of No. 19 and a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season. He was 24-14 in singles action, including an 11-10 dual-match ledger playing as high as No. 2 in the lineup. He was ranked as high as No. 72 nationally following the fall season in which he went 13-4. Brailovsky posted a trio of singles wins in SEC play at the No. 4 post, including a nationally-ranked win over No. 95 Philip Henning in the Gamecock's dual-match with No. 26 Georgia. In doubles, he compiled an 18-15 ledger playing primarily at No. 2.
In high school, Brailovsky won the Maryland State Singles Championship in 2016, 2017 and 2018 at Thomas S. Wootton High School. He earned All-American honors and was selected as the
Washington Post Player of the Year during his junior career. Brailovsky was ranked as high as No. 28 by the Tennis Recruiting Network and was a five-star recruit by the website.
Brailovsky and the Tribe open the 2019 fall season on Sept. 20. W&M will compete in a pair of events, Sept. 20-22, sending players to both the Princeton and Duke Invitationals.
