Tim Pemberton '05 Qualifies for 119th US Amateur

HARFORD COUNTY, Md. – Former Tribe men's golfer Tim Pemberton '05 qualified for the 119th US Amateur after he won a qualifying event for the tournament at Mountain Branch Golf Course in Maryland on Monday.
 
Pemberton ran away with the win as he carded a 66 (-6) in the first round, before firing a 67 (-5) in the second round. His 133 (-11) was good enough to hold off the field by five strokes, and earn his spot in the US Amateur.
 
A Keswick, Va. native, he was a member of the Tribe men's golf team from 2000-05. He appeared in 104 rounds and averaged a 74.32 stroke per round score, which still ranks sixth in school history. Pemberton finished his career with 2969 wins, and a .789 winning percentage, while he fired 25 rounds at, or below, par. He had one medalist finish, nine top-five finishes, and 16 top-10 finishes.
 
Pemberton will now head to the US Amateur, which will be played at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club on Courses No. 2 and No. 4. The event runs from Aug. 12-18 with television coverage on FOX SPORTS 1 on Aug. 14-16. For more information on the US Amateur visit their website here.
