Chelsea Wallace Finishes 38th in NCAA Discus Semifinals

William & Mary freshman Chelsea Wallace (Chesapeake, Va.) finished out the week at the NCAA Eastern Preliminaries on Friday afternoon, finishing 38th overall in the discus semifinals.  Wallace threw 46.59m (152-10), the 10th-longest effort in school history, to lead all CAA competitors in the event and cap off an outstanding freshman season.  Wallace was the runner-up at the CAA Championships and at the ECAC Championships, and also won the college division discus at the Penn Relays in late April.  Her effort at the Penn Relays was a then-record 48.22m (158-2), which Wallace then followed up by breaking the school record again the following week at the conference meet with a throw of 50.48m (165-7).

Friday marked the end of the collegiate season for the William & Mary women's track & field team, who finished 78-32-2 (.705) outdoors this spring with a runner-up finish at the Colonial Relays and tied for fourth at the CAA Championships.  Wallace will compete again on June 22, at the USAT&F U20 National Championships in Miramar, Fla.  She's qualified in the discus, and will be competing for a spot on Team USA at the Pan-Am U20 Championships this summer in Costa Rica.
