WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's golf looks to capture the Colonial Athletic Association title as they head to Pinehurst No. 8 for CAA Golf Championship this weekend. The tournament runs Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21. Tee times will be based on team position in the second and third rounds, while the Tribe will begin its tournament at 10:18 a.m Friday. The Road To NCAA's
The winning team this weekend will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals, but that is the only guaranteed spot. If the medalist is not on the winning team, the individual winner will also receive a berth at an NCAA Regional. After the 31 automatic-qualifying teams are determined, the NCAA Selection committee will take a look at every other team and player to select 50 at-large teams and up to 45 individuals not on a qualifying team to go to regionals Coastal Carolina, Georgia, Iowa State, Louisville, Stanford, and Washington State will host the NCAA Regionals this year, and the number of teams and individuals varies per site. The NCAA Championship will be hosted by Arkansas at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
Scouting the Field
College of Charleston paces the field into the CAA Championship according to the GolfStat rankings. The Cougars rank No. 65 in Division I according to the program. No. 91 James Madison, No. 113 UNCW, No. 140 Elon, No. 147 Elon rank just ahead of the Tribe, which comes in at No. 193. No. 194 Delaware, No. 259 Towson, and No. 286 Hofstra round out the field.
Pinehurst No. 8 plays host to all nine teams at the CAA Championship over the weekend. The course plays as a par-71 that stretches 7,088-yard.
Scouting the Tribe
William & Mary played in nine tournaments during the regular season finishing in the top-five once, the top-10 twice, and averaged a 295.73 stroke per round score this year. That score is currently the third best single-season average in school history.
Senior
David Hicks and junior
Walker Campbell will both be playing in their third CAA Championship this weekend. Hicks is coming off of his best tournament of the season with a second place finish at the Rutherford Intercollegiate (209 (-4)), and the CAA Golfer of the Week honor. This season, Hicks is averaging a team-best 72.88 strokes per rounds, and is one of two players to appear in every round this season. Campbell on the other hand has appeared in 20 rounds this year and is second on the squad with a 73.90 stroke per round score this season.
Sophomores

Otto Voettiner as well as freshman
Matthew Feinstein will all make their CAA Championship debuts this weekend. Hecht is the other Tribe player that has appeared in every round this season, averaging a 75.46, while Feinstein has appeared in all but three with a 75.96 stoke per round average. Voettiner has played every round this spring to bring his total to 15 for the year and is carding a 76.80 stroke per round score.
