What's At Stake
The top-five teams in the regional meet will earn points (even if they don't advance to NCAAs) in the NACDA Learfield Director's Cup, which measures national success across the entire school year for the whole athletics department at each school.  The top two teams will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, with other teams joining the national pool that selects 13 at-large teams based on success during the season.

Individually, the top-25 finishers earn All-Region honors, and the top four runners who are not on a selected team also earn an automatic spot at the NCAA Championships.  Two final runners from around the country will be awarded at-large bids, to achieve a total of 255 athletes selected to the national meet.  W&M is looking to make its first appearance of any sort (team or individual) at the national championships since 2010.

Scouting the Tribe
William & Mary finished third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships two weeks ago in its last race, placing a league-best four athletes on the All-Conference team.  The Tribe has entered all 12 of its runners from the conference meet into the race this weekend, of whom seven will be chosen to start the race.

That seven will likely include W&M's top runners from this season, including standout freshman Emma Rogers (Roanoke, Va.), who led the Tribe at the CAA Championships with her seventh-place finish.  Rogers has finished in the top-three for the team at every race this year, including taking second for W&M in its first appearance on the regional course back in late September.  Redshirt-junior Liv Paxton (Rock Hill, S.C.) has been W&M's number-one for most all of the year, including that previous UVA race, and finished eighth at the conference meet two weeks ago.

Senior Charlotte Kowalk (Ijamsville, Md.) also finished in the top-10 at CAAs, in her second race of the year, and was fourth on the team in her debut two weeks before at Penn State.  She has a history of running well for W&M at the region championships, finishing among the top-four each of the past three years.  Junior Lauren Finikiotis (Gibsonia, Pa.) was second for W&M at the regional last season, and has held that role on the team all of this season as well.  At the CAA Championships, Finikiotis was named All-CAA for the third year in a row, after finishing 12th overall.

Also in the mix to make the line-up is grad student Rachel Snyder (Purcellville, Va.), who has been among the Tribe's scorers at each of the last three races.  Snyder was the fifth runner for W&M at the CAA Championships two weeks ago, finishing just ahead of redshirt-sophomore Taylor D. Jones (Virginia Beach, Va.).  Jones has likewise been having a strong season, finishing in the top-six for W&M at all five races.  Redshirt-junior Deirdre Lewin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) was seventh for the team at the conference meet, and has been consistently in the top-seven along with redshirt-sophomore Megan Kolbe (Doylestown, Pa.).  Kolbe's classmate Julia Lambert (Virginia Beach, Va.) has been knocking on the door of the scoring line-up and improving over the course of the season, running lifetime-bests at 6K each of the last three races.

Three rookies could also be tabbed by the coaches to join the race.  Hope Stephens (Springfield, Va.) was eighth on the team at the CAA Championships, while Kaycee Cox-Philyaw (Linden, Va.) and Megan Dougherty (Sinking Spring, Pa.) have both been strong all season long.  Dougherty was seventh for W&M at the UVA Invitational earlier this season on the same course.

Scouting the Region
The Southeast region includes teams from Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina, and is one of nine regional races that will run on Friday.  36 teams have entered a full line-up, including national No. 5 North Carolina State, No. 14 Furman, No. 23 Virgnia Tech, and Wake Forest (receiving votes).  The full list of teams include:
