Men's Tennis Rolls on Day One of the Tribe Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis dominated on the opening day of the Tribe Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Millie West Tennis Facility. The Green and Gold won seven of its eight singles matches and split its four matches doubles against Old Dominion and Richmond.
 
Sophomore Joseph Brailovsky, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Atlantic Region Singles Championship his last time out, posting a convincing win over ODU's Tomislav Podvinski. He dropped just one game in winning the first set, 6-1, and led 1-0 in the second when the Monarch retired. Brailovsky improved to 6-4 on the year.
 
Juniors Sebastian Quiros and Chen Ruo and sophomore Oren Vasser picked up their fifth singles wins of the fall campaign. Quiros topped Richmond's John Walsh, 6-4, 6-1, and Chen downed Old Dominion's Panos Nearchou, 6-1, 7-6. Vasser dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win over Richmond's Ike Simon.
 
Senior Brenden Volk picked up his fourth win of the fall season, upending Richmond's Alex Wernink, 6-3, 6-3. Freshman George Davis evened his fall record at 6-6, rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 win over ODU's Federico Rebecchini.
 
Sophomore Daniel Pellerito continued his winning fall ways, improving his team-leading singles ledger to 9-3. He bounced Richmond's Nick Mueller, 6-3, 6-3,
 
In doubles, the Tribe split matches with a pair of new teams picking up victories. At the top spot, the duo of Volk and Davis topped ODU's Podvinski and Younes Lalami, 8-5. Davis moved to a team-best 7-2 in doubles competition. Ruo and Vasser rolled to an 8-2 win over Richmond's Mueller and Simon.
 
W&M returns to action at the Tribe Invitational on Saturday at 2 p.m. against both VCU and Navy at the Millie West Tennis Facility.
