The William & Mary swim teams begin the 2019-20 campaign at home this weekend, hosting Division III power Johns Hopkins for Family Weekend. The Tribe and the Blue Jays will hit the water at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Rec Center Pool, and the meet can be followed via live stats on TribeAthletics.com or through the Meet Mobile app.

Scouting the Tribe Men
W&M's men's team has won the last five Colonial Athletic Association Championships, and hopes to be in the mix again this season with a strong senior class and title contenders in every event. Leading the way is senior
Colin Wright (Williamsburg, Va.), who is the conference's leading active medalist with 17 career championships won, and who finished 12th in the 50m free this summer at the Phillips 66 Summer National Championships.
Scouting the Tribe Women
On the women's side, W&M has finished either first or second at the CAA Championships each of the past four years, including runner-up finishes in both 2018 and 2019. Junior
Megan Bull (Hillsborough, N.J.) is the two-time reigning champion in the 500 free, and senior
Julia Bland (Sea Girt, N.J.) earned runner-up honors in both IM events last year.
Scouting the Blue Jays Men
Johns Hopkins' men finished fourth in the nation last winter at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, and returns nine All-Americans off that team. Junior CJ Arena earned awards in all three distance events, and sophomore Maxwell Chen earned five awards, including in both the 200 IM and the 100 breast.
Scouting the Blue Jays Women
Hopkins was 13th a year ago in the NCAA Women's Championships, and returns 11 All-Americans from that squad. Leading the way for the Blue Jays is junior Kiki Peterson, who earned six All-American honors on her own including a fifth-place finish in the 50 free.
The Series
- W&M is tied in the all-time series with the Johns Hopkins men, 3-3. The Blue Jays won three straight between 1932-34, while the Tribe have taken the last three meetings since reviving the series in 2016.
- On the women's side, W&M is a perfect 9-0 against Johns Hopkins.

Nate Kellogg begins his first season as the head coach of W&M men's and women's swimming this weekend, after serving as an assistant coach the last three years. Kellogg has more than a decade of head coaching experience, leading the Georgia Southern women for 12 years and a 109-59-1 (.648) record.

Kristine Gaswint, joining the Tribe from Bucknell, and
Jamie Lew, who was a volunteer coach with the Harvard men last year.

Jack Doherty (Middletown, Conn.) is qualified in both the 50m free and the 100m fly. Senior
Ian Thompson (Alexandria, Va.) is qualified in the 50m free, and senior
Ben Skopic (Marriottsville, Md.) is qualified in the 200m IM. On the women's side, sophomore
Missy Cundiff (Leesburg, Va.) picked up her first qualifying mark in the 50m free.

Conor Sokolowsky (Williamsburg, Va.) is off to a strong start to his collegiate career even before the meets have begun, as he was elected President of the Freshman Class in a school-wide election last week.
