BOONE, N.C. – Sophomore
Sarah Houle and the Tribe women's golf team are both in first place after the first day of the Hound Ears Intercollegiate on Monday.
Houle paced the field as she fired a 71 (-1) in the first round. The sophomore's round was her first round under par this season and the second time she has accomplished that feat in her career.
As a team the Tribe shot a 308 (+20), which puts them in a tie for first place with Appalachian State after the first 18 holes. The two schools have a five-stroke lead on the rest of the field.

Allison Olberding also had strong rounds for the Tribe and are in the top-10 for the event. Zhou recorded a 77 (+5) and is in eighth, while Olberding's 78 (+6) is good for 10th.

Sarah Houle recorded her best round of her season with a 71 (-1), which was the second time in her career she's been under par.
