Men's Tennis Closes Out Play at the River City Open

RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis wrapped up play at the River City Open on Sunday, collecting four singles wins and a doubles victory.

Freshman George Davis and sophomore Daniel Pellerito led the Green and Gold with three singles wins apiece at the event. Davis won his third match in a row on Sunday, topping Old Dominion's Younes Lalami. After taking the first set, 6-2, the Tribe freshman led 4-2 in the second when Lalami retired. Davis is 5-4 on the year following a trio of wins in Richmond.

Pellerito went three sets in all four of his matches at the River City Open and rallied to claim victories in three of those in Flight C. After dropping the opening set to JMU's Stefan Petrovic, the Tribe sophomore responded with a 6-4 win in the second and a 10-3 triumph in the third-set super tiebreaker. Pellerito leads the Tribe at 6-2 in fall singles action.

Sophomore Oren Vasser won for the second time in three tries at the River City Open, topping Wake Forest's Brant Fenno, 6-1, 7-5. Junior Benden Volk recorded his second win of the season as well on Sunday, topping Campbell's Ondrej Lebik in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 10-5.

In doubles, junior Sebastian Quiros and Vasser picked up their second win in three tries in Flight C. The Tribe tandem outlasted JMU's Tate Steinhour and Paul Mendoza in a tiebreaker, 7-6.
