The William & Mary women's swimming team took on a pair of ranked teams on Saturday on the road, and picked up five event wins as well as two dual-meet records. The Tribe fell to host and No. 20-ranked Duke 178-78, while Division II's top-ranked Queens University won 151-110.
Leading the way for the Tribe was sophomore
Megan Bull (Hillsborough, N.J.), who won a pair of races. In the 500 free, she swam 5:00.36 to beat Queens, and break the W&M dual-meet record of 5:00.95 that
Molly Emery '12 set back in 2008. This is Bull's second dual-meet record of the season, after she also broke the 1,000 free record against ECU back in October. Two events later, Bull swam 2:08.18 to win the 200 IM against Duke.
Also setting a dual-meet record was freshman
Anna Kenna (Chantilly, Va.), who swam 56.56 in the 100 back. That broke the record of 56.67 set by
Sophie Rittenhouse '17 against Towson in 2016. Kenna also moved up to 13th all-time among Tribe athletes in the event. Senior
Maria Oceguera (New Rochelle, N.Y.) won the 200 fly against Queens in 2:04.61, and her classmate
Katie Sell (Fredericksburg, Va.) went 56.43 in the 100 fly to defeat Queens as well. Finishing out the afternoon was the 400 free relay, where the team of Sell,
Tara Tiernan (West Hartford, Conn.), Oceguera, and Bull combined to swim 3:30.95 and beat Duke.
William & Mary is back in action next weekend, on the road at Davidson at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19.
