W&M News and Notes
- Saturday's match-up pits the two longest-tenured head coaches in the Colonial Athletic Association. W&M head coach
Tony Shaver is the dean of CAA coaches at 16 years followed by Northeastern's Bill Coen at 13. Both rank among the top five in career CAA wins and have combined for 268 league wins (Coen 137/Shaver 131).
- The Tribe has come on strong defensively with the start of CAA play. Over the first five league games, W&M ranks second in defensive efficiency (97.5), allowing opponents less than a point per possession. In CAA play, the Green and Gold is holding foes to 40.5 percent shooting and 29.6 percent from 3-point range, both of which leads the league. The Tribe ranks third holding foes to just 70.4 points per game in league action.
- In three-straight games, W&M held Delaware to 58 points, Towson to 61 and Drexel to 66. It marked the first time in three years that the Tribe limited three-consecutive opponents to 66 or fewer points. The 58 points allowed at Delaware on Jan. 3 was the lowest total for a CAA opponent in nearly two years, while Towson shot only 14.3 percent (2-of-14) from 3 on Dec. 30, which was the lowest for a CAA opponent since 2015.
- With the start of CAA play, the Tribe's 3-point production has increased. After shooting just 31.7 percent from 3 and hitting 7.9 triples per game through the non-conference season, the Tribe's numbers have jumped to 37.9 percent and a CAA-best 10 3-pointers per contest in league action. W&M is also scoring 39.5 percent of its points in CAA play on 3-pointers compared to just 32 percent in the non-conference.
- Junior
Matt Milon has scored in double figures in all five CAA teams and ranks 10th in the league at 16 points per game. In CAA play, he is averaging a league-best 4.2 treys per game and is shooting 43.8 percent from 3. Milon ranks 57th nationally in 3-pointers per game (2.9) and 76th in 3-point percentage (.405).
- Twice this season, freshman
Chase Audige was named the CAA Rookie of the Week. He garnered the honor on Nov. 26 and Dec. 31. Audige is one of four CAA players to earn the league's top rookie honor on two occasions this season and the first W&M player since Omar Prewitt in 2013-14 to win multiple honors. Audige ranks third among CAA rookies and 28th overall in scoring at 9.4 points per game and ninth in the league in steals (1.2).
- The Tribe dished out 20 or more assists in four of its first five CAA games and is averaging 21 per game in league play. In total, W&M has dished out 20 or more assists on seven occasions this season and is 5-2 in those contests. Over the last nine seasons, the Green and Gold is 42-4 when dishing out 20 or more assists in a game.
- Junior

Pierce ranks 28th nationally at 9.6 rebounds per game and 15th in defensive rebounding (7.7). He is one of only seven players in the country averaging 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game (as of Jan. 9).
- Knight tallied his fourth career 30-point, 10-rebound double-double vs. Hofstra (31 points/10 rebounds). It was just the second 30-10 double-double in the CAA this season and the only one in a league game. He ranks third in the league with nine 20-point games and two 30-point contests. Earlier this season, he became the 40th player in school history to score 1,000 career points. He ranks 54th nationally at 19.4 points per game.
