WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's soccer team had three players honored by the Colonial Athletic Association with postseason awards the league announced on its awards show on Thursday afternoon.
Redshirt junior
Sarah Segan highlighted the Tribe's honors as she was named to the All-CAA First-Team for the first time in her career. Redshirt sophomore
Lauren Kelly, who was a third-team pick, and freshman
Grace Santos, who was named to the league's all-rookie team, also garnered postseason honors.
For the third straight season, Segan was W&M's leading scorer and for the first time she led the team with goals, assists, and points. She finished the year with six goals, four assists, and 16 points starting 16 of the Tribe's 17 matches. For her career, Segan has appeared in 50 matches with 48 starts, scoring 24 goals, 10 assists, and 58 points. The Fogelsville, Pa. native earns her fourth all-conference postseason honor as she has been named to the All-CAA Second-Team twice, and picked up an all-rookie nod after her freshman season.
Kelly was named to the All-CAA third-team as she helped anchor the Tribe's backline all season long. The defender started all 17 matches playing 1,491 minutes of the 1,555 minutes this year. She helped the Tribe defense to three shutouts and 1.45 goals-against-average. Since joining W&M last season, Kelly has appeared in all 37 games with 36 starts.
Finally, Santos was named the all-rookie team after a breakout rookie season as she saw action in 17 games with seven starts. She finished the season with one goal and two points. Her goal came in the Tribe's 2-1 against Elon. Santos also earned the start in the final three games of the year.
