W&M Swimming Hosts Davidson for Senior Day Saturday

The William & Mary swimming teams bring the regular season to a close on Saturday, hosting Davidson at 12 p.m. in the final dual meet of the year.  Before the swimming begins at the Rec Center Pool, the Tribe will take a moment to recognize the 14 graduating seniors of the Class of 2018.  The meet can be followed via both the Meet Mobile app, as well as live results on TribeAthletics.com.

The Meet
The two teams will swim a standard 16-event (14-event without diving) lineup Saturday.  The relays will be the 200 medley and the 400 free relay, with individual events being the 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000 freestyles, the 100 and 200 of each stroke, and the 400 IM.  There will be a 15-minute break between the 50 and the 100 free, as well as a 10-minute rest between the 100 fly and the 400 IM.

Scouting the Tribe Women
William & Mary won on the road last week, 190-104 at Old Dominion, to improve to 10-2 overall on the year.  That's the team's best mark since the 2008-09 team finished with the same ledger.  Individually, A ninth athlete pushed past the 130-point plateau for the year, with four of those women all eclipsing 10 wins as well.  Freshman Megan Bull (Hillsborough, N.J.) only has six wins on the season, but has made the podium a total of 28 times in 39 races to lead the team in scoring with 226 points.  Junior Morgan Smith (Verona, N.J.) has a team-best 13 wins, just ahead of classmate Katie Sell (Fredericksburg, Va.) and freshman Tara Tiernan (West Hartford, Conn.), with 12 each.

Scouting the Tribe Men
On the men's side, W&M also downed Old Dominion easily last weekend, 184-110, and improved to 9-1 on the year.  That's the best mark for both wins and fewest losses since the 1998-99 team went 15-1.  Sophomore Ian Thompson (Alexandria, Va.) has been on a roll since the end of last semester, and won his second CAA Swimmer of the Week award after sweeping the 50 and 100 free against the Monarchs.  For the season, his classmate Colin Wright (Williamsburg, Va.) leads the Tribe in both points (244) and wins (15), while distance aces Carter Kale (Williamsburg, Va.) and Chris Balbo (Short Hills, N.J.) are close behind in wins with 14 and 13, respectively.

Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson enters the weekend at 1-4 on the men's side and 0-7 for the women, and both winless in the Atlantic 10.  The men are being led by such names as Henry Resweber in the middle- and distance events, who is ranked second in the 200 free coming into the meet, and Riley League who is seeded third in the 100 breast.  On the women's side, the top-seed coming into the weekend (based on season-bests) is Frances Resweber, predicted fourth in the 200 free.

Series History
- The W&M women lead their series with Davidson 20-2, and have won the last 11 in a row dating back to 2004.
- On the men's side, the Tribe leads 29-5-1 since 1965, and has won the last four in a row while going 8-1-1 in the last 10 meetings.

Notes
Every member of the Tribe's senior class, including student assistant Bailey Hall (Mechanicsville, Va.), will graduate with at least one individual victory in their career ... This class has led W&M to five CAA titles and a combined record of 59-25 (.702) ... The last class to graduate with more wins was 1999-00 (combined 66-41-1), while the last with fewer losses was all the way back in 1974-75 (40-23) ... This year's win percentage of 70.2% is the best since the Class of 1974 graduated at 75.4% (49-16) ... W&M has not lost at home since their freshman year of 2014-15 ... With a win today, the Tribe men can reach 10-1 and become just the fourth team in school history with double-digit wins ... W&M previously achieved that feat in 1969-70 (10-0), 1970-71 (10-1), and in 1998-99 (15-1) ... The Tribe women can improve to 11-2 with a win, which would rank behind only the 1967-68 and 1968-69 teams that both went 12-0 ... The only previous year in which both teams had 10+ wins was 1970-71, with the women going 10-0 while the men were 10-1 ... Last weekend's win over Old Dominion was the seventh-straight road win for the men, tying the all-time program record ... The women also won, their sixth in a row on the road, which is one of just six times that's ever been achieved ... The men have won seven in a row at home, and another Saturday would make it the third-longest home winning streak in school history ... A win for the women would give them seven in a row at home, tied for the second-longest streak ever ... That would match the streak set between Jan. 12, 2008 and Jan. 31, 2009 ... The women's all-time record home streak is 48 in a row, which stretched from the founding of the team in 1964-65 until December of 1972.
